Mostly, I am self taught as I have been in love with art creation since I can remember. However, I did study under Art masters like Bob Bechtle and Mark Johnson while I earned my BA degree in Art(emphasis in painting and drawing) from San Francisco State University in 1999. I have been painting, drawing and working in a variety of mediums for 28 years. Given that my parents were TOTALLY different, my dad from Seattle, and my Mom from the Montana prairie, and that they split up when I was 2, I learned a lot about different approaches to life. Also, growing up in the Silicon Valley, a major melting pot, has given me a rich background in lots of art from lots of different places around the world. For example, I use lighted orbs and Chinese water color techniques in my oil paintings. I was also privi to Bay Area HOT culture, like Raves when they were just starting to happen and good ol' Toons (our corner bar) back in the BRENT days (lengendary South Bay bartender) You can call me a melting-pot, or freestyle artist because I borrow from so many cultures, styles and from my diverse, muddy background. In each piece I strive for balance, harmony, variety, gradation, movement, rhythm, proportion, and unity (Mark Johnson taught me to add all these elements while I create.) Typical subject matters includes figures, landscapes, celestial bodies, and varied sources of light. Some of the themes of my work include love, friendship, death, relationships, emotion, and my life experiences. Keep your eyes open for my new work and other work that's been off the market for a few years. Series titles include: MY FAVORITE MUSICIANS Series (includes old school and new school artists) NORTHERN LIGHTS Series DA VINCI STUDY Series Pacific Art Collective Live paintings that capture a feeling-in-time. PAC Session paintings include originals for my ORBS AND DOORS series (est. in 91’), and GESTURE MORE series (est. in 96’). Peace and love, Reesa J
